Young people learn by doing. Play is the young child's work, we aim to provide hands-on investigative program that encourages children to be active learners, to explore their environment , problem solve and become independent , inquisitive thinkers. We encourage children to be able to communicate ideas, thoughts and feelings and relate with other children and adults. Play supports children's learning and development and occurs in both indoor and out door environments. Play is a complex activity that is important catalyst for enriching all aspects of development-physical, social, emotional and mental.
Our Kindergarten began in August 2002, having attained the standard requirements for affiliation with the Crèche & Kindergarten association of Queensland, this included meeting standards for staff qualifications, equipment resources, program etc. A group of motivated parents initiated the kindergarten realising the need for a facility in the growing Port Douglas area, creatively we began it in the preschool unit of Port Douglas State School this gave us the facilities and resources of an established children's centre to use whist raising money to build our own centre. In April 2005 we moved into our new building.
